The Toolbox Pane

Understand how the Toolbox pane organizes Magic xpi components and how to recover deleted entries quickly.

Overview

The Toolbox pane is one of the three main information panes in Magic xpi Studio. The other two are the Solution Explorer and the Properties pane.

When you select a flow in the Solution Explorer, the Toolbox pane is populated with available Magic xpi components.

Component Categories

Toolbox components are grouped under categories such as:

  • Utilities
  • Triggers
  • Converters
  • File Management
  • Connectors
  • Communication, Mail, and Messaging
  • General and User Components

Some components can appear in more than one category, and user-created components are also added here.

Working with the Pane

  1. Open Toolbox from the View menu or use Ctrl+W, X.
  2. Select and drag components into the flow editor.
  3. Use category grouping to locate the right type of component faster.

Refreshing the Toolbox

If components are accidentally removed from the pane, restore them using Edit » Refresh Toolbox.

Summary

You should now be able to:

  • Explain the role of the Toolbox pane in flow design.
  • Navigate categories to find components quickly.
  • Restore missing components by refreshing the pane.
